Terms of Service

1. What Knowl is

Knowl is a personalized learning feed. It aggregates content from openly published or licensed sources: public-domain books (Project Gutenberg, the Internet Archive's open items only), open educational feeds, Wikipedia (CC BY-SA), arXiv, and other openly-licensed outlets. We do not host or link to material taken from shadow libraries or unlicensed pirate archives.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Knowl. If you are between 13 and 18, use Knowl with a parent or guardian's permission. By creating an account you confirm you meet these requirements and that you accept these Terms.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your username and password confidential and for everything done with your account. Notify us immediately at 140sm4n@gmail.com if you believe your account was compromised. We may suspend or delete accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable use

You may use Knowl for personal, non-commercial study. You agree not to:

• reverse-engineer, scrape beyond fair use, resell, or re-host Knowl content;
• attempt to gain unauthorized access to Knowl systems or other users' accounts;
• upload or transmit malware, spam, or unlawful content;
• harass, abuse, or defame other users;
• interfere with the operation of the service.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of content you post (posts, comments, flashcards, quiz results). You grant Knowl a worldwide, non-exclusive license to store, display, and process your content solely to provide the service to you. We may moderate and remove user posts that violate these Terms or applicable law.

6. AI features

AI features (summaries, explainers, translations, quizzes, tutoring) generate content using third-party models. AI output is for study and may contain errors — verify important facts. Prompts are processed by AI providers; see the Privacy Policy.

7. Copyright and takedowns

Knowl respects copyright. If you believe content on Knowl infringes your rights, file a DMCA notice — see the DMCA Policy and the in-app "Report a takedown" form. We act expeditiously on valid notices and terminate repeat infringers.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms, for conduct that harms other users or the service, or as required by law. Removed content that infringes rights stays removed.

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output is accurate.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Knowl and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the service.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date above always reflects the current version. Material changes will be announced in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the new Terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where Knowl operates. We encourage you to contact us first at 140sm4n@gmail.com to resolve any dispute informally.
